Anime Art
Artwork influenced by Japanese comics and animation.
Monkey On Your Back Monkey On Your Back --- [posted Jan 2005]
This isn't really anime style but until I have more stuff like this it goes here. Concept painting for an upcoming Capybara Games mobile project "Monkey On Your Back", first appeared in their publisher pitch document taken to the Game Developers Conference and E3 for 2004. Created using pencil, Photoshop and Painter.
Christmas 2003 Christmas 2003 --- [posted Jan 2005]
My winter themed Christmas print for 2003, readers of my comic SAS Alternative should recognize Clara one of the main characters. Created using pencil, Photoshop and Painter. Final prints were printed on textured water colour paper.
SAS Alternative #1 Cover SAS Alternative #1 Cover --- [posted Jan 2005]
Cover art for SAS Alternative #1. I used much more saturated colors than usual so the covers would (hopefully) really catch peoples' eyes when the walked past at conventions. Created with pen & ink, Photoshop, and Painter.

rapping angel Rapping Angel --- [posted Jan 2003]
I sketched this last year and it's been sitting on my computer waiting to be coloured for months. So I finally got to it. It's coloured using Painters water colour brushes. Unlike almost all my colour work I decided to paint right over the pencils without inking so it has a real sketchy loose look to it.
First Painting First Painting --- [posted Dec 2002]
First attempt at colouring using Painter, a program which mimics natural media, in this case water colours and conté.
Pigtail Girl Pigtail Girl --- [posted May 2002]
My first drawing coloured in Photoshop using my new computer and tablet! I'm pretty happy with it given it's my first attempt at this technique.
Magic Graphitti Magic Graffiti --- [posted 2000]
A fairy paints graffiti while her goblin skater friend sits and watches. It's shaded using a fair amount of purple and I think it works nicely. On the downside I think I used too many colours over all making it a bit busy. This is the last of my art marker drawings.
Broken Wing Broken Wing --- [posted 2000]
A Bio-mechanical Angel clings with one hand to a cliff after breaking both wings and a mechanical leg. To some extent this drawing was inspired by the Battle Angel manga which I recently finished reading (and highly recommend).
Clockwork Fairy Clockwork Fairy --- [posted 2000]
I did this drawing while listening to panels at the Ad Astra Speculative Fiction convention. The costume is influenced by the Square video game Dew Prism which I was playing compulsively at the time.

Black and White
Black and white inked drawings and pencil sketches.
Whatevah Whatevah --- [posted Jan 2004]
Kyta from SAS Alternative drawn while watching the brilliant UK mini series Metrosexuality which has quite possibly the best clothing ever. Her hat is taken directly from the show, the rest is just inspired by Metrosex's clothing.

Pencil Drawing of Clara Pencil Drawing of Clara --- [posted Jan 2004]
Clara from SAS Alternative.

Angel Never More Angel Never More --- [posted Jan 2004]
One of my better angel sketches that litter my sketchbook. She's wearing a hat from my fictitious clothing line Never More.
SD With Film Noir Style Inking. SD With Film Noir Style Inking. --- [posted Jan 2004]
An attempt to blend a cute short character esthetic with vaguely Mike Magnolia style noir inking.
Demon Hand 1 Demon Hand 1 --- [posted June 2003]
One of two bizarre demonic hand drawings I did while listening to panels at the Ad Astra Speculative Fiction convention this year. I was thinking of the giant hand character in Dew Prism, though that's where the character similarities end.
Demon Hand 2 Demon Hand 2 --- [posted June 2003]
The second bizarre demonic hand drawings I did while listening to panels at Ad Astra this year. I have no idea why his shirt says "FX".
Snow Angel Snow Angel --- [posted Jan 2003]
Another angel picture inspired by CLAMP's Clover manga. I used this design as a label for Christmas presents this year. Though the stark black and white style is all Clover, the idea for the pose came from a rather dark scene in the first episode of Yoshitoshi ABe's Haibane Renmei.
Angel Hacker Angel Hacker --- [posted Dec 2002]
Drew this as an entry to an online contest It won second place. I was trying work in a style similar to the CLAMP manga Clover. The character ended up in my manga short Graffiti Nonsense with some minor alterations.
DJ Skunk DJ Skunk --- [posted 2000]
This is the oldest drawing I have that I can still stand looking at, so since I'm too lazy to actually scan new content today I'm posting this. It's inked with a brush pen and was inspired by a Funky Porcini song.

Fan Art
Drawings of other people's characters from anime and video games.
Thank you for not suing us =^-^=
Cube from Jet Set Radio (Jet Grind Radio in N.A.) Cube from Jet Set Radio --- [posted 2000]
I love the Jet Grind Radio esthetic. This picture got me 'Artist of the Month' for Dec 2001 in the Organic Metal Videogame Character of the Month.
Shorty and the EZ-Mouse Shorty and the EZ Mouse --- [posted 2000]
Bust a Groove was the game responsible for getting me back into console games. While others may pull out Tekken or Street Fighter for their VS game play fix my posse always pulls out the Busta. More Rhythm!

Anthro Art
I grew up reading lots o black and white 'funny animal' comics in the 80's, stuff like the original TMNT, Usagi Yojimbo, and Critters. The pictures here mix that early influence with the anime style I use now.
Morrigan Morrigan --- [posted 2000]
A colour interpretation of one of the main characters from "The Roadkillls" a mini-comic I did several years ago. Morrigan was a stigmata suffering computer geek rat... it was a strange comic.
Late for the Train Late for the Train --- [posted 2000]
I sold this drawing on E-Bay as an experiment. A rat looking suitably harassed waiting for her train. I usually wrote 'Logo' on her T-shirt but this time I just wrote 'Log'. Proving once and for all that I am amazingly lazy.
Neko Ramen Cat Ramen --- [posted 2000]
I'd been doing lots of drawings of tabby cats and wanted to try something different so here is a drawing of a Siamese Cat eating ramen.
Neko Fire Cat Fire --- [posted 2000]
A concept sketch for a garage Gameboy Color game that I was working on with Jed. A cat ninja sits on a beam watching as fire rages below.

Vector
Drawings done using vector based programs like Adobe Illustrator and NetSketch.
@ Dragon Hoppin' V --- [posted 2000]
My sketchbooks are filled with Jiang-Shi or Chinese 'hopping vampires', but surprisingly I have few finished drawings. If you can't guess I'm a big fan of trashy Hong Kong horror comedies like Mr. Vampire.

@ Dragon (@) Dragon --- [posted 2000]
A small blue dragon I did a few years ago based around a cheesy little ascii dragon icon (@) Created in the shareware program Netsketch while talking to friends on the phone instead of doodling.

Junk
Old old, bad art, sad art, strictly for people who want more and don't want to wait.
